Many countries and online ESL teaching companies require a 120 hour TEFL and will not accept a 40 hour TEFL certificate. A 40 hour online TEFL course is best for those who are new to teaching and looking to build a foundation to teach online or in a country that has no TEFL requirements.
The main difference between a 40 and 120 hour TEFL is the amount of course content that the TEFL course can cover, which is why most companies and schools require a 120 hour TEFL at the minimum.
The TEFL Hero 40 hour TEFL course is designed to give a basic foundation for delivering effective classes, but is not a substitute for a comprehensive 120 hour TEFL nor does it meet the requirements for most countries and online teaching companies that require a 120 hour TEFL.

The TEFL industry is a growing and changing environment, so you will also have access to any course updates that we make after you completed it.
In order to gauge progress, students must pass a quiz at the end of each course section to move onto new content. Each quiz has 5 multiple choice questions and you must earn at least 70% to pass. You have as many opportunities as needed to pass this quiz.
At the end of the course, students must pass a 10-question multiple-choice examination with at least 70% in order to earn a certificate.
Once you pass your final examination, you will receive a digital copy of your free TEFL certificate immediately. From there, you may print out your TEFL certificate from anywhere in the world! For a more formal touch, we recommend printing onto a quality cardstock paper.
This certificate will always be accessible via your account page.
The only requirements are that students (1) are older than 16 years of age and (2) have a reasonable competence in English language reading, writing and speaking skills.
